Texas Craft Brewers Bring Home GABF Hardware

October 27, 2013

Texas craft breweries scored big at this year’s Great American Beer Festival held in Denver during early October.  In all, Texas had over 30 breweries offering their beer on the festival floor, which holds sessions on Thursday and Friday nights, along with an afternoon and evening session on Saturday. The Texas Craft Brewers Guild also had a booth at the festival and served Texas craft beer that was not otherwise available at the festival.  The Guild was really happy to serve beers from breweries like Big Bend, Southern Star, Fredericksburg Brewing, Martin House, Lone Pint, 8th Wonder, 5 Stones and Ranger Creek. The festival goers really enjoyed the beer and they were all impressed to see how much craft beer is growing in Texas.

Leading up to the festival, thousands of beers are also entered into the competitive portion of the GABF, and are judged by industry experts who have to submit, what is in effect, a judging resume, have judging references, and wait through a two to three year waiting list to get on the judging panels.  Texas had a really big year with 9 breweries taking home a total of 10 awards.  Veterans and rookies alike really put Texas on the award winning beer map.

Here is how it all racked up:
