ABOUT THE ROLE

The General Manager is a critical position on the Off Main Brewing leadership team. Reporting to the CEO and COO, the General Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the soon-to-be tasting room in downtown Kerrville, TX – making the taproom experience nothing short of exceptional. This person ensures smooth operation of the tasting room by making sure that it is appropriately staffed, that beer tenders have everything they need to successfully and efficiently complete their tasks, that the environment is comfortable, that the beers are at their absolute best, and that unforeseen needs are addressed quickly. The General Manager will manage the internal and external resources necessary to meet retail sales and profitability targets as well as ensuring guests receive the best experience possible. Additionally, the General Manager is responsible for the safety, development, training and growth of the tasting room staff as well as continually driving efforts to improve processes and deliver a memorable guest experience.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

·       Recruit, hire, train, motivate and manage all tasting room staff

·       Assist with preparing the new tasting room for its grand opening

·       Manage the opening and closing of the taproom (setting up and closing down POS, ensuring that the taproom is clean and ready for patrons, restocking/ordering any necessary supplies, addressing any unforeseen needs)

·       Setting the daily schedule for taproom employees at minimum of one week in advance and for at least one week out

·       Manage all food service-related requirements, including ordering and maintaining proper inventory of all food items, ensuring a clean and organized space that exceeds all Health Department requirements

·       Work with COO to maintain proper supply of beer, wine, food, merchandise and operating materials

·       Maintain an accurate inventory of beer, food, merchandise and supplies

·       Ensure all taps are well maintained and pouring appropriate selection of beer

·       Ensure quality of beer and food available in tasting rooms meet the company’s high standards and notify management of any issues or inconsistencies.

·       Work with CEO to coordinate in-house events, including private events, charity fundraisers, new beer releases, and other special events and promotions

·       Manage walk-in cooler organization and cleaning

·       Develop, maintain and enforce standard working procedures

·       Maintain complete and accurate daily records and reports

·       Ensure a safe work environment and provide safety training

·       Schedule, staff, and maintain tasting room events calendar

·       Implement operational business improvements

·       Perform other duties as assigned

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

·       Preferred prior taproom, tasting room or restaurant manager experience

·       Experience leading, training and managing a team

·       Demonstrated knowledge of craft beer, including basic understanding of beer production (Cicerone Beer Server or similar certification preferred)

·       Attentiveness to guests, ensuring their needs are met in a timely and cheerful manner

·       Basic familiarity with tablet-based POS systems and other web-based / MS Office software

·       Ability to adapt to and handle unanticipated problems as they arise

·       Growth, entrepreneurial mindset

 

REQUIREMENTS

·       Ability to work 40 hours/week, including nights and weekends

·       Ability to lift 35-40 pounds

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining positive and courteous attitude

·       Aptitude for and desire to learn the mechanical workings of taproom equipment in order to address problems quickly and efficiently

·       Prior taproom or bartending experience

·       Willingness to step in as beer server and/or beer educator as needed

·       Ability to stand for extended periods of time
