Brewer

Location: Altstadt Brewery, Fredericksburg, TX

Altstadt Brewery is a 15,000 bbl/yr brewery that specializes in award-winning German beer. We are currently seeking a Brewer to join our team for the second shift (11am – 7pm). The Brewer will be responsible for brewing and cellar-related duties, working directly with the Head Brewer.

Responsibilities:

• Prioritize safety above all else and maintain a safe work environment at all times
• Follow production SOPs, consistent and reliable record keeping
• Keep open communication and work as a team with First Shift Brewer and Head Brewer
• Work with the team to ensure a steady workflow for the current and following day as well as maintaining cleanliness of the entire brewery 
• Perform milling from silos and 55lb bags
• Wort production on 30hl automated Rolec brewhouse
• Yeast management
• CIP of brewhouse vessels, yeast tanks, fermenters, and brite tanks
• Keep a clean workspace
• Cellaring duties: gravity and pH readings, yeast dumps, dry-hopping, beer transfers, O2 and CO2 monitoring for packaging
• Operate centrifuge and keg washer/filler
• Cross-train on packaging line
• Attend festivals and brewery tours, encouraged but not mandatory

Requirements:

• At least 21 years of age
• One year of production brewing experience
• Strong attention to detail and consistency
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to stand, sit, bend, or lift up to 55lbs
• Ability to obtain forklift certification provided by Altstadt
• Mechanically inclined
• Basic computer skills
• Accredited brewing degree or certificate a plus
• Willing to train the right candidate

Schedule:

• Monday – Friday 11am to the end of brew day.
• Some days may go longer than 8 hours.
• Some occasional weekend work is possible

Compensation:

• Pay rate: $19.50 – $21.50 dependent on experience.
