While I haven't been entrenched in the craft beer industry for as long as many of those surrounding me, I've had a pint in my hand for way longer than my parents would like me to admit. When I had my first Pale Ale in the early 2000's, I was immediately sucked in and I knew craft beer would play a big part in my family's life in the future somehow.
I grew up in Central Texas, in the now booming little suburb town of Boerne, TX. After high school, I attended Texas A&M University and received a degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences (aka hacky sack and disc golf). After too many years and finally graduating, I moved to New Braunfels and managed the Parks and Recreation Department for City of Seguin until I was convinced by a close friend to move to the Austin area. I then spent a decade working in the corporate homebuilding industry with the same company doing everything from working as a field superintendent to facilitating national supply contracts and a little of everything in between in construction operations. During this time, I met Sarah, whom I married two years later, and we now have 2 young boys, Harris (3) and Hudson (7) - aka brewpub kids. In my spare time, I love hanging with my family, learning as much as possible about the coffee and beer industries, traveling, cycling, playing disc golf, binge watching Netflix series and always finding ways to help our business and industry grow.
While I enjoyed my career, I knew it wasn't permanent and in 2008/2009 I started building a plan around what I really enjoyed - coffee and beer - and the future of Red Horn began. While it drove my wife crazy and scared the crap out of her initially, she watched the vision take shape and knew that one day it would be time to kick me in the ass and go DO IT. That is just what we did in 2014 and, after years of planning, Red Horn was born. We created our own beautiful monster and wouldn't want to be anywhere else doing anything other than what we do. We get to work together with an amazing team of people making and sharing great beer for great people because that's what we love.
I'm excited everyday to be in the great state of Texas, in the greatest industry, and am forever grateful for my good fortune of sharing great beer for a living.
