2023 Ambassador of Craft Nominations

Exceptional Texas craft beers will not be the only award winners announced at the 2023 Texas Craft Brewers Guild Annual Meeting & Texas Craft Brewers Cup awards ceremony! During the event, we will also be taking the opportunity to publicly recognize select individuals and organizations for their dedication to advancing the Texas craft brewing industry with the presentation of the second annual Texas Craft Brewers Guild Ambassador of Craft awards

Any Texas Craft Brewers Guild member (whether affiliated with an operating brewery, brewery in planning, allied trade, or retail member) is eligible to submit nominations for the Ambassador of Craft awards through January 20, 2023. If you are interested in submitting a nomination, please read on for FAQs on the nominating process as well as a link to the nomination form.

Nomination Process FAQ

Who can be nominated for an Ambassador of Craft award?

Who is Eligible
Nominees may either be individuals who have shown exemplary industry leadership in Texas (such as a pioneering craft brewer, a tireless legislative champion, a passionate craft beer industry or community member, etc.)  OR organizations who have shown collective leadership (such as an industry-leading brewery, an exemplary craft beer retailer, an amazing allied partner, or an industry transforming non-profit, initiative, club, etc.).

Nominees do not necessarily need to be members of the Texas Craft Brewers Guild (for instance–a state legislator who has successfully passed Texas beer legislation or a craft beer enthusiast who has started a great charitable initiative could be considered for nomination) but, where applicable, Guild support and involvement will be considered during the deliberation process.

Who is Ineligible
Ambassador of Craft nominees will be evaluated by Texas Craft Brewers Guild staff, as well as board members who make up our annual Nominating Committee (elected board members currently in the middle of a two-year board term and not facing 2023 reelection). As such, TCBG board members will be ineligible to receive an individual Ambassador of Craft award in years in which they serve on the nominating committee. If a member of the nominating committee is affiliated with a nominated organization (brewery, initiative, non-profit, etc.), the board member will be asked to recuse themselves from discussions and deliberations concerning the nominated organization.

Who is eligible to submit a nomination?

Any Texas Craft Brewers Guild member (whether affiliated with an operating brewery, brewery in planning, allied trade, or retail member) is eligible to submit nominations for the Ambassador of Craft awards through January 20, 2023.

Members are welcome to submit multiple nominations, as long as a separate nomination form is submitted for each candidate.

How will winners be determined?

Ambassador of Craft nominees will be evaluated by Texas Craft Brewers Guild staff, as well as board members who make up our annual Nominating Committee (elected board members currently in the middle of a two-year board term and not facing 2023 reelection). The final number of awards bestowed will be based on the size and strength of the nomination pool, but is anticipated to be somewhere between one and four awards annually.

The committee will evaluate nominees based on impact made in at least one of these five areas:

  • The nominee’s commitment to supporting their local community through charitable giving, humanitarian relief, etc.
  • The nominee’s impact on legislative/regulatory progress for the Texas craft brewing industry
  • The nominee’s mentorship of new industry members/a continued willingness to pass on knowledge and best practices
  • The nominee’s work bringing new folks into craft beer–making the industry and its customer base more inclusive, diverse, welcoming, etc.
  • The nominee’s work as a tireless promoter of the overall Texas craft brewing industry–growing consumer awareness, education, and market share for Texas craft beer

When will winners be announced?

Winners will be publicly announced during the Texas Craft Brewers Cup awards ceremony at the Texas Craft Brewers Guild’s Annual Meeting February 11, 2023 in Austin. If present, winners will be called on stage to receive their awards.
